Product review: Spontex Microfibre Cloths

Product review: Spontex Microfibre Cloths

I had never heard of Spontex until a few weeks ago when they reached out to me for their “try me love me” promotion, which promises your money back if you don’t love their cloths. I was sent four of their kits to use and review, including the Microfibre Window Kit, Microfibre Kitchen Kit, Microfibre Bathroom kit and the Magic Effect Microfibre Cloths.

The first thing I noticed when using these kits is that they kill 99% of bacteria using just water. That, to me, is the biggest selling point for these Spontex cloths!

I’m going to review each kit for you now and cover the following points:

  1. About the cloths
  2. Instructions for use
  3. The textures
  4. The benefits
  5. Availability

MICROFIBRE WINDOW KIT

This cleaning kit includes a lint free Microfibre Window cloth (green cloth) and an efficient Microfibre All Purpose cloth (yellow cloth). I absolutely love both of these Microfibre Cloths and would definitely say this is my favourite of the Spontex kits!

All you do is wash with the yellow cloth (using only water) and dry with the green one! It really is that simple.

These Microfibre cloths are a fantastic combination; the all purpose yellow cloth has a thick 3D weave which removes dirt, dust and debris, whilst the the green Microfibre Window cloth with honeycomb texture leaves a perfect smear free and shiny finish.

As they are efficient at removing 99% of bacteria with just water, you do not need to use any other product or tool! What a great way to save money, space, and time. They are also machine washable up to 60 degrees which means you get a lot of wear out of them, just don’t wash them with fabric softener or bleach.

I was able to clean my mirrors, inside windows and conservatory doors so quickly and easily. I always say “clean smart not hard” so if you agree, this is the pack for you. Keep your eyes out for a pack from your local Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Asda, and Ocado, or go online to the Spontex website or Amazon. They are so worth it!

MICROFIBRE KITCHEN KIT

This cloth set is just amazing! They are without a doubt the only cloths I have ever found which truly remove dirt whilst leaving a smear free and sparkling finish. Again, I love that you only need to use water so highly ecological with absolutely zero chemicals!

This kit comes with a blue kitchen cloth which you use damp to clean your surfaces/sides. It is super absorbent but also removes grease and dirt, leaving a gleaming finish. You actually don’t even need to buff dry, as I’ve noticed a smear free finish just letting it air dry. However, the kit does also come with a yellow All Purpose cloth which Spontex recommends you use to buff dry, for the best results. My favourite place to use these cloths is without doubt my hob and stainless steel, but it also works beautifully on tiles and all kitchen surfaces, including my fridge shelves and drawers.

Again, they are machine washable up to 60 degrees and available from Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Asda, Morrisons, Amazon, Ocado and the Spontex website.

MICROFIBRE BATHROOM KIT

This kit comes with the yellow All Purpose cloth and a very non-traditional blue Bathroom Microfibre cloth. Let’s talk about that one for a minute. It is unlike any other microfibre cloth in that it has two different sides. One side has integrated non scratch scrubbing bands to remove watermarks and grime, and the other side absorbs water and leaves everything shiny, ready to buff dry using the All Purpose Microfibre cloth.

I used this kit on my white bathroom tiles, the taps, basin, shower, and towel rail, using just water and was pleased with the shiny results! I should say that a little elbow grease is required if, like me, you leave those water marks a bit too long on the surface. However, they do kill 99% of bacteria with just water so again for me these are an absolute must have. I am definitely guilty of using too much product in my bathroom cleaning routine, so these Microfibre cloths have been a game changer when it comes to daily wiping round, as well as deeper bathroom cleans.

Again, they are machine washable up to 60 degrees and available from Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Amazon, Ocado and the Spontex website.

MAGIC EFFECT MICROFIBRE CLOTHS

Spontex Magic Effect Microfibre Cloths are the next generation of microfibre cloths and claim to be four times more resistant to wear and tear. Which I just had to put to the test, obviously!

Honestly speaking, my first impression was that the cloths felt like posh paper towels. But when push came to shove they did not disappoint! Over the past couple of weeks I have given them a right thrashing, I’m not going to lie. They have been used to clean (scrub) up old vomit residue from my toddlers car seat, and to clean the inside of my car – including the fabric seats, dashboard and wheel. I’ve been using them whenever I felt like something could so with a good scrub, and so far they have not let me down. I’ve also been putting them in the washing machine for a clean (up to 60 degrees) and hanging them up with their little corner hole, which is so handy, especially as the cloths are always flexible and pliable (wet or dry)!

All of these Spontex kits can be found at Tesco’s, Sainsbury’s, Amazon, Ocado and the Spontex website. The Microfibre Kitchen Kit can also be found at Morrison’s and the Magic Effect Microfibre Cloths can be picked up at Waitrose. Spontex are putting their money where their hedgehogs are with this lot too, so if you don’t like them then feel free to return them for your money back – just keep the receipt and check out the terms on their website https://trymeloveme.spontex.co.uk/terms).
